Our History

Nestled in the growing town of Dalyston, Powlett River Primary School has been an important part of the community for over a century. Established more than 100 years ago, our school has a rich history, including a pivotal moment when the local community successfully rallied to keep the school open during a time when many small schools were closing. This effort united students from Dalyston and Dudley Primary Schools, creating the Powlett River Primary School we know today.

Our school's history is a testament to the strength and importance of community, and it continues to shape who we are. Today, Powlett River Primary is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where every student can thrive. Our passionate staff are committed to improving outcomes for all students by creating a safe, inclusive, and dynamic learning space. Together, our entire school community works to ensure that each child benefits from the opportunities we provide. Our values—community, growth, individuality, safety, and respect—are at the heart of everything we do.
