Camps, Excursions and Incursions

Camps, Excursions, and Incursions at Powlett River Primary School

At Powlett River Primary School, we are passionate about extending learning beyond the classroom. Our students thrive on hands-on experiences that foster both personal growth and academic development.

School Camps:
Students in Grades 3-6 have the exciting opportunity to attend school camp, where they spend three days and two nights in a supportive environment. Camps are a highlight of the school year, offering students the chance to build independence, make lifelong memories, and learn more about themselves. Past camps have included trips to Sovereign Hill, Forest Edge, Camp Rumbug, and this year, we are excited to visit Portsea.

Grade 2 Sleepover:
In Grade 2, students are introduced to the school camp experience with our Grade 2 Sleepover. This special evening brings together students from Prep, Grade 1, and Grade 2 for a fun-filled night of activities and games, followed by a shared dinner. After dinner, the Prep and Grade 1 students head home, while the Grade 2s enjoy the unforgettable experience of sleeping over at school.

Excursions:
Excursions offer our students unique opportunities to explore new places and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Recent excursions have included visits to Toora Pool, Powlett River, the Melbourne Arts Centre, the National Gallery of Victoria, the Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne, the Wonthaggi and District Historical Society, and Summersault Gymnastics.

Incursions:
Our school also invites a variety of experts and organisations to enhance the learning experience through engaging incursions. Some of the exciting incursions we’ve hosted include visits from Questacon, Monkey Baa Theatre Company, A Blank Canvas, YMCA Skateboarding, and the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority.

Through these camps, excursions, and incursions, we aim to inspire curiosity, encourage teamwork, and provide our students with valuable, real-world learning experiences.
