Sorry Day & Reconciliation Week
Huge thanks to Chelsea for arranging activities for Sorry Day on 26 May. Chelsea is Marrung Champion for Powlett River Primary School.
Marrung is the Wemba Wemba word for the Murray Cypress pine tree, representing branches of education and knowledge.
Reconciliation Week 27 May -3 June. This year the theme for Reconciliation Week is All In. This theme is a call for all Australians to commit to reconciliation as an active, daily practice, rather than a passive or spectator activity.
OUTSIDE
The weather wasn’t too bad on Wednesday but as we head into winter, we will be having more rainy, cold days. We recommend students have a change of clothes, and we are encouraging students not to wear their best clothes, or their coolest shoes. Some students have said they can’t do an activity because they don’t want to get their good clothes/shoes dirty.
We are seeking donations of second-hand raincoats, jackets and gumboots in good condition for kids to use during OUTSIDE. Donations can be left at the office.
Jo from Bunnings came along to OUTSIDE on Wednesday and brought some small gardening gloves, trowels, seeds, seedlings and sugar cane mulch. The garden beds are looking great. The lettuce students planted with Karin last term are coming along nicely too.
Curriculum Day
This Friday is a student free day. Teaching staff will be taking part in training to support students. Curriculum days are important in ensuring we continue to update our skills. There is no OSHC on Friday, Sigrid and I will be taking part in the training and Jaimee is still on teaching rounds.
Assembly - Badge Presentation
Our last assembly for term 2 will be held on Friday 19 June (due to 3-6 camp last week of term). This will be a special assembly as our school captains and students’ council representatives will receive their badges.
