District Athletics
Congratulations to all our District Athletics competitors. They had a great day and represented our school beautifully. One of the highlights for me was watching a group of students run on the inside of the track cheering on 1500m competitor Heath, who volunteered at the last minute. Seeing Heath step up and take on this challenge and then seeing our kids support him is what it’s all about. Thank you to Chelsea and Ella for organising everything and making it such an enjoyable day.
Powlett River Kids Club - OSHC
Sigrid has been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to get the payment system working for OSHC. We hope that it is working for you all. If you have any issues while she is away next week, please let Jaimee or me know and we’ll do our best to help you.
It has been some years of the service operating for free with the school covered the costs so I can appreciate that change has been challenging for some families. There is a fantastic calculator that can help estimate the gap (out of pocket) cost. It’s easy to use and all you need is your family's annual income and the daily rate our OSHC charges.

Volunteers
Volunteers are important in a small school. We are always grateful for help. When volunteering during school hours or school events volunteers must have a current Working with Children’s Check (WWCC). We need to take a copy and record the number in our WWCC register. If you would like help applying, please let us know.

Pokémon Cards and Toys
We have reminded students that there is no trading or swapping of Pokémon cards at school.
We are also trying to discourage students from bringing toys to school. There have been a few occasions when toys have been lost or damaged and they become upset about this. I know it can be hard some mornings, and different kids need different supports but if you could discourage this as much as possible, we’d appreciate it.

Mothers’ Day Stall. We are looking for volunteers and donations of small gifts for our Mother’s Day Stall next Thursday 9.15-11.00am. Students come along to the stall and choose something for their mum or someone special to give to them on Mothers’ Day. Prices usually range from $1-8.
Next Friday we will be having a Mothers and Special Person afternoon. Students have an invitation to take home and give to a mum or special person to come along and join in with some activities and afternoon tea. There will be no assembly next week.
