Principal's Message
OUTSIDE
We had a great day OUTSIDE this week. A huge thank you to Carla for continuing to research and develop the program, and to our teachers for the fantastic job they do determining the best activities for our students. There is a noticeable increase in the engagement, participation and stamina of our students after a year of running the program.
Royal Botanic Gardens Cranbourne
Riaana has organised a special excursion to the Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne, on Wednesday 25 March. The activities and some of the transport costs are covered by the Royal Botanic Gardens. We are looking forward to this excursion. We visited the gardens some years ago for a wellbeing in nature program and the students enjoyed the day. More information will be sent home closer to the date.
Staffing Update
I’d like to welcome Will Meaden to our school community. Will be teaching PE starting on Monday. Will has years of experience and works part time at St Josephs Primary School. I am sure you will make Will feel very welcome.
Sigrid Tucker will be increasing to full time in our prep classroom from next week. This means our prep students will have the same teacher all week. This also means Chelsea Black will be able to work across our classrooms providing additional support and small group work.
School Photos
School photos will be taken on Monday 23 February by Blue Wolf Photography. Leigh and his team take beautiful photos, and you can view the photos online before you purchase them. Photo forms with your child’s name went home this week, please contact your teacher if you have not received yours. Please don’t worry if you haven’t received the photo form your child won’t miss out on having their photo taken.
School Council
School Council
School council members play an important role in the school. Some of the functions of school council include approvals of policies, camps and excursions, overseeing the financial management of the school, approving fundraising events, and managing OSHC.

Our school council has 2 parent positions up for nomination and 2 staff positions. Nomination forms are available at the office or can be emailed from Monday 16 February.
Nominations will close on Monday 23 February.
Candidates will be posted on Wednesday 25 February.
If we have more nominations than positions a ballot will open on Monday 2 March and ballot papers will be distributed.
The ballot will close on Monday 9 March.
Ballots will be counted on Tuesday March 10 and the outcome announced Thursday 12 March.
The AGM and School Council meeting will be held the following week the date is to be confirmed.
Student Representative Council
One of our school goals is to increase students voice and agency. This year we are introducing a Students Representative Council (SRC). This will give students a formal way of contributing ideas. On Friday morning the grades1-6 had a meeting to talk about what an SRC does and decide on the structure and how the SRC could work.
It was decided that 4 students from the 1/2/3 and 4/5/6 classes would be elected by their peers to be on the SRC. The other decisions made were, fortnightly meetings and that preps could have representatives join later in the year. It was decided that those who would like to be on SRC will make a pitch on Friday in their classrooms, with voting to follow.
I was incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and contributions the students made. I am looking forward to working with the SRC.
